I received all possible supports from Tokyo Techies to develop my technical skill, management skill, and Japanese skill via either online training or training on job.

1. What made you decide to join Tokyo Techies?

My housemate bragged about how awesome he felt working in Tokyo Techies, so I gave it a try then decided to stay because of the people here.

2. What are your responsibilities at Tokyo Techies?

I’m a software and AI consultant at Tokyo Techies. My responsibilities include, but not limited to, executing software solutions, evaluating technical designs and issues, managing software projects, instructing students who join training courses at Tokyo Techies.

“Looking back at myself before joining and now, I can see a clear difference in understanding management principles and navigating projects with more than 2 entities involved”

1. What made you decide to join Tokyo Techies?

Knowing Yoshi from my previous company, I trusted his judgement. His recommendation gave me a lot of confidence in the company and work environment, but also on the fact that I would be a good fit. Another important factor is meeting Duc and discussing with him the company’s vision and how I could fit and grow in. And finally the company’s AI activity interested me a lot, as I was (and still am) wanting to progress in that field.

2. What are your responsibilities at Tokyo Techies?

Data Scientist and Software consultant. Currently working in a technical architect role and AI engineer/Data Scientist for Tokyo Techies projects..

3. How do you assess your personal growth since joining the company?

Looking back at myself before joining and now, I can see a clear difference in understanding management principles and navigating projects with more than 2 entities involved. I attribute that to learning a lot from Duc by working together on Tokyo Techies projects. A concrete manifestation of it is a number of question I would find myself asking at the beginning of a new project, that I would not have thought about before. On the more technical side, Tokyo Techies really encourages learning and being able to incorporate this into my work schedule is very valuable for me. For example I am currently learning about AWS architecture as part of the course completion program. And of course, more research oriented project pushes me to explore new subject, such as sound signal treatment for example.

4. How do you find the working environment at Tokyo Techies?

Love it. Quite flexible, and the people are both talented and easy to work with. And they’re quite fun to be around, as if it wasn’t enough. Great alchemy I think.

5. Any message to candidates applying to join Tokyo Techies?

Don’t hesitate to reach out to us! We’ll be glad to help you figure out if Tokyo Techies is a fit for you.

I chose to join Tokyo Techies because it seemed like the perfect environment that would give me a lot of new learning opportunities and also because the people I spoke to at Tokyo Techies during the interview had a friendly and great personality.

2. What are your responsibilities at Tokyo Techies?

I’m in charge of front end development. I participate in client projects, occasionally managing our internal company website, and also working on our software solution, Klever Suite.

4. How do you find the working environment at Tokyo Techies?

1. What motivated you to join TT?

TT caught my attention in the beginning because a friend of mine seemed to be enjoying their work, and that sparked my interest. I heard that TT had a fun work environment and opportunities to speak English. Since I had a desire to speak English at work, and there were many foreign staff at that time, I decided to apply.

2. What kind of task have you had since joining?

Initially, I managed office supplies and responded to job applicants via email. Gradually, I took on responsibilities like managing the hiring process, supporting new employee training, and conducting interviews. I also engaged in HR-related marketing tasks, accounting, and sales support. Recently, I've been entrusted with legal affairs and serving as the executive assistant to the CEO, gaining solid experience as a generalist.

3. What are your career goals for the future?

I aim to enhance my expertise in human resource management while keeping up with the advances in AI technology and continuously acquiring skills that are less likely to be replaced in the future by AI.

4. What makes working at TT enjoyable?

For me the freedom to take initiative. TT culture encourages proactive proposal of ideas and improvements, along with the speedy decision-making, all this together makes working here enjoyable. I also appreciate the discussions I have with my co-workers.

Yoshinori Agata

Q. Could you provide a summary of your career background?

A. Before working at Tokyo Techies, I previously worked at a trading company and was involved in all aspects of the procurement process, including sourcing from both domestic and international markets, sales, and trade procedures.

Q. What prompted you to transition to the IT industry?

A. I became interested in how major IT companies achieve success (and amass vast wealth 😉), prompting me to take a leap into the IT industry. Coincidentally, around the same time, I was introduced to Tokyo Techies through acquaintances from my previous job, leading me to where I am now.

Q. What are your main responsibilities in Tokyo Techies?

A. As a Sales Representative, I primarily handle all aspects of the sales funnel, from responding to and proposing solutions for new sales leads generated from marketing efforts to contract negotiations. Our sales team, consisting of the CEO, COO, directors, and myself, collectively work on acquiring new business opportunities. I also handle communication with existing clients and post-contract follow-ups. Additionally, I also participate in internal and external events that boost brand awareness of Tokyo Techies’ IT consulting services and our SaaS product, Klever Suite.

Q. There’s a general perception that sales is a tough role. What aspects of your work do you find challenging, and what aspects do you find enjoyable?

A. The challenge in sales lies in working with diverse clientele, which requires different approaches for sales pitches. However, what I find enjoyable in my role is the teamwork aspect. While adapting to the different customers in the IT industry has its own challenges, the collaborative environment at Tokyo Techies is incredibly rewarding. We constantly strive to achieve our sales targets, not only as a sales team but also as a unified company. This sense of teamwork fosters both personal and professional growth, which I find immensely fulfilling.

Q: What kind of future team member would you like to work together with?

I enjoy working with proactive individuals who actively contribute to improving our workplace environment. When faced with challenges or areas for improvement, I appreciate colleagues who take initiative and work together to create positive change.
